Caring for Wheeler, One Family at a Time

June is here, and at Parkview Hospital, it’s a month full of meaningful health observances – and plenty of reasons to check in on yourself and the people you love. From men’s health to brain health, here’s what’s on our radar this month, along with the ways our team right here in Wheeler can help.

June Is National Men’s Health Month

This month is a timely reminder for the men in our community to take charge of their health through preventive screenings and routine check-ups. From blood pressure and cholesterol to diabetes and cancer screenings, early detection can make all the difference.

The men in our lives often put everyone else first – but a simple check-up can catch small issues before they become big ones. If it’s been a while, this is your sign.

Schedule a check-up with our providers at the Rural Health Clinic – same-day appointments are available. Call 806-826-0180.

Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month

An estimated 7.4 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – and in rural communities like ours, access to specialized care can feel especially out of reach.

While Parkview is not a specialized memory care center, we are your neighbors, and we’re here to help where we can. Our Occupational Therapy team can make a real difference for families facing these challenges, including home safety assessments, adaptive daily living strategies, and cognitive therapy designed to help your loved one maintain independence for as long as possible.

If your family is navigating memory loss or cognitive changes, please know you are not alone. The Alzheimer’s Association’s free 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900) offers confidential support for everything from understanding a diagnosis to finding a local caregiver support group.
