Parkview Hospital Awarded Opioid Abatement Funds to Support Local Prevention & Education Efforts
Parkview Hospital is proud to announce that we have been awarded $29,353.58 in Opioid Abatement funds from the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council (OAFC). This grant is part of a larger statewide initiative to address and reduce the impact of opioid misuse across Texas communities.

These funds are allocated specifically for projects that combat opioid addiction, raise awareness, and improve access to prevention and recovery resources. One exciting project already in motion is the installation of a secure prescription drug drop-off box near the Parkview ER entrance!
This drop box will give community members a safe, convenient way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications—especially opioids—helping to prevent misuse before it starts. In the past, Parkview provided medication disposal services directly, but rising costs made it difficult to continue. This new system, complete with professional disposal services, makes the process safe, sustainable, and accessible again.
Why This Matters

Opioid addiction has affected families and communities across the nation, including rural Texas. Thanks to the Opioid Abatement settlements and responsible local planning, hospitals like Parkview are being empowered to create meaningful, lasting change.
